2008 the Viadukt-Wanderweg received the Award "Quality Path Wanderbares Deutschland" from the German Rambling Association.
2011 the hiking path was awarded again.

Keen railway photographers are excited by the impressive motifs they can capture from a viewing platform above the viaduct.

Combine this special railway atmosphere with a walk along the Viaduct Rambling Route. The 29 km walkway around Altenbeken offers a splendid experience of the history of railway and nature in its purest form. On their way across the very well maintained and well signposted route walkers can enjoy many magnificent views of the mighty railway viaduct - the largest stone railway bridge throughout Europe.
